He loved the happy life of green things growing

dad in Ireland writing

Missing the best Dad in the whole wide world every single day.  I loved this photo taken by my Mom in county Cork Ireland in the garden of their cottage in Schull.

He loved the happy life of green things growing
and footprints in the snow
anchored by the most kindest thoughts
and softer days below
He loved the purple over hedge and sea
and where the whitest lilies grow
He kissed the strawberries on cottage hill
and stray bees skimming the river's flow

oft these nights I can see a faint star
flickering before the ocean turns
and I swear I can hear him gathering
with old bird songs from afar

singing...

'the world is wide
wide enough for you and me'

and then everything goes quiet, as before
climbing once more up into heaven.
