Matrilumina (between the thunderclap and the rose)

matrilumina reverie from madelyn mulvaney on Vimeo.

 What happened?

A few months past I attended a gathering/retreat at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur with a group of soulful women created by Christine Mason Miller, Maya Corrine and Pixie Campbell.

These visionary women were moved to birth Matrilumina ~ a community of Luminaries who gather together ~circling, dancing, singing on path propelling one another through individual legacies sharing wisdom, secrets, support and infinite love in a wild collective.

I was so ready for anything. Open. Joyful. Curious. Seething with creative juice. Feeling great beauty and hope, a little bit shy and uncertain all in the same breath. ( a few old wounds in my pocket to remind me of my story ~ and something else ~ something which had gone astray)

I had been in a lonely place for awhile seeding ideas for my work and longed for a community of artists, musicians,  mentors, healers, alchemists and story tellers to navigate new horizons.

Everything was so blue and so deep! Light and sand and stone. Green rivers. White waterfall. Opalescent shells, crimson oval seeds, the essence of the waves ~  and everything holding such a life force within it.

I wanted to reach into everything and around everyone in this company of women who I loved so instantly as if forever from a long time ago. (oh but really there was no 'before')

We gathered up in the mountain to do some soul mining which felt a bit like play, a bit like cutting wood, a bit like blue air and mystery (and then wakefulness followed by sleep.)

but mostly it felt like this...a gift from Christine Mason Miller left on our door in a little envelope with the words 'the daily Hafiz' written on it...

A Hunting Party

A
hunting party
sometimes has a greater chance
of flushing love and God
out into the open
than a warrior
all
alone.

~ Hafiz ~

Seeds scattered everywhere swept up into the wind pierced with all things wandering. There was music and silly singing by a fire, and everyone was writing and reaching OUT, weaving

m a g i c

I woke up so early every day feeling silver and 'good morning.'  I traveled over mountains and sea with eagle and my beloved while journeying to the beat of Pixies drum. I felt that 'thing' which had gone astray reach for a broom to clear a path home.

I spent a day so lost in time down by the sea and claimed my place in abundant flow in a surging personal ceremony and baptism. Right where the river marries the sea as a matter of fact crowned with one single green star watching over me.

And all the while this is how I walked.

In joyous sacred circle supported and seen, held and cherished by soul sisters. In dynamic flow of shared creative ignition birthing collaboration and fresh beginnings held UP by the hands of day with God hidden in the roots.

In a circle we are capable.  In a circle we are supported. In a circle we heal one another. In a circle you can hear great things rustling and gather beautiful unfurlings in golden bundles.

In a circle we love and are loved and can find our portrait in the sky. From this arc of connectedness we share an abundance of positivity by infusing the world with the ripple effect of infinite love.

Thank you from a full and happy heart to Christine, Pixie and Maya for the infinite love that is Matrilumina.

love,

Maddie

pst ~ just briefly ~

in case you find yourself at Esalen with the forthcoming Matrilunina tribe let me happily impress upon you the joys of tossing your clothes to the wind and basking in the sulfur baths carved into the side of the mountain ~ wooooot!!! (seriously, you can see pirate ships advancing on the horizon)

oh and the food ~ I ate my weight in those meals daily with a few glasses of organic red wine ~

~ Esalen has one brilliant ecstatic dance scene going on with a dj that revs up your sexy chakra's ~ just sayin'

and I am feeling such abounding joy and love I will be offering a new batch of daily mails later today aptly entitled 'infinite love' (because some infinities are larger than other infinities:)

the sea pods and mountain dreamer are my favorites

those sea pods held me in thrall!

I learned something so simple and so dear ~ make time to connect in tribe
    and do some work (playfully)

I learned how delicious it is to be in an environment that feeds your body
and your soul in equal measure so you can rest and rejuvenate to return to
the world and create and love and express your offerings better

    thank you for these words...

at first I could not quite envision how to
place my words as it was all so sacred and
some experiences flee from expression if you
know what i am dancing around

    still

the photo's capture a bit of that enchantment as well

oh that fire! I trance out by a fire ~
have them in my garden all the time

for the laughter and meditation and the transformations that billow up with smoke into the
    blue night air

    pure JOY.
